Mayor Breaks Ground on Major Redevelopment at Merrist Wood College Campus

We were thrilled to welcome the Mayor for the groundbreaking ceremony last week, marking the official start of the redevelopment project at Surrey’s only land-based college. The event was attended by staff and representatives from Galliford Try, the contractors overseeing this transformative build.

Significant Investment from the Department for EducationÌý

Thanks to the Department for Education (DfE) funding, this project represents the largest investment in MDÍø±¬ÃÅ’s history, aimed at modernising and transforming the Merrist Wood College and University Centre facilities. This funding is part of the DfE’s initiative to upgrade educational infrastructure across the UK, ensuring students benefit from state-of-the-art teaching and learning environments.Ìý

State-of-the-Art Facilities for Future GenerationsÌý

The redevelopment at our Surrey-based campus will include cutting-edge facilities designed to meet the evolving educational needs of our community. These enhancements are aligned with MDÍø±¬ÃÅ’s commitment to providing industry-standard learning spaces that support hundreds of learners each year.Ìý

Transforming Land-Based Education in SurreyÌý

This project will deliver sustainable, low-carbon buildings and new glasshouses, supporting land-based skills development and accommodating future learners. Scheduled for completion by April 2026, these new facilities will ensure Merrist Wood College remains at the forefront of land-based education.Ìý
